Gothic Lawn Gnomes

Washington State champions 2006!!

The Gothic Lawn Gnomes are a group of 10 homeschooled children, 9 boys and 1 girl, ages 10-14 from Woodinville, Maltby, Lynnwood, Redmond, Sammamish and Bellevue that came together to form a FIRST LEGO League (FLL) team.

This rookie team went to the FLL regional competition to have fun, and they were invited to compete at the State tournament with a "Wild Card" award. Once again, the Gothic Lawn Gnomes went to have fun, and they came out the State Champions! Their next adventure was to represent the State of Washington at the FIRST LEGO League Nano Quest World Festival in Atlanta, Georgia on April 12 - 14, 2007. Here they proudly represented Washington State as they competed against 103 teams from 37 countries in a 2 and a half-day tournament.

Going to Atlanta was an unexpected surprise. The kids looked to the community for sponsors as they tried to raise money to cover expenses. Donations were tax deductible and afforded these 10 children a once in a lifetime opportunity.
